Suertes del Marqués

Jonatan García Lima's winery in the Valle de La Orotava: braided-cordon Listán Negro and fine-boned reds since 2006.

Suertes del Marqués is Jonatan García Lima’s winery in the Valle de La Orotava, in the north of Tenerife. Jonatan spent around twenty years growing grapes in the valley before bottling his first wine in 2006, and since then few people have done as much to put Tenerife wine on the map, at home and abroad. He works old vines, many of them a century old and ungrafted, trained in the valley’s braided cordon.

The range runs from village wines up to single-plot bottlings, with Listán Negro and Listán Blanco front and centre. La Solana is the red most people discover the valley through, and La Floridita, a bleed-off of Listán Negro sitting halfway between red and rosé, is proof that finesse needn’t cost a fortune.
